Credit union overdraft fee settlements

The Supreme Court of British Columbia has approved settlements of a class action about overdraft administration fees charged by eight B.C. credit unions between 1994 and 2003. If you were a member and paid an overdraft fee, you may be able to claim a refund.

Each credit union has its own settlement, its own fund and its own claim form. If you were a member of more than one, make a claim in each.

  Refund $1 for each qualifying overdraft fee, plus interest

  Refund $20 for each qualifying overdraft fee from November 10, 2000, plus an estimated amount for fees from January 1, 1997, to November 9, 2000, plus interest

Not sure which credit union?

Several of these credit unions have since merged or changed their names. Use the name and place you banked between 1994 and 2003.

Comox Valley Credit Union and Chemainus Credit Union are both part of Coastal Community Credit Union today. They are separate settlements: choose the one where you had your account.
